Daily Language Review

 

Objectives:  Daily review of sentence editing, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension skills.

Daily Language Fundamentals Review

 

Objectives: Standards-based grammar, mechanics, usage and paragraph-editing practice

Daily Paragraph Editing

 

Objectives:  Four theme-based paragraphs focusing on capitalization, punctuation, spelling, language error correction, and writing a summary based on the week’s theme and genre.

Writing Workshop

 

Objectives:  Providing students with a rich background of writing practice and creative writing experiences.

  • Mon. and Tues.: Journal quick writes in Reflections Log
  • Wed.  (Computer Lab) Publish book reviews on the Student Community Weblog
  • Thurs – Friday – Writing in science based on Unit 5 prompts

G.A.T.E.

 

Objectives: Individualized enriched writing assignment encouraging personal creativity and inspired writing by the students.

  • Introduction to the Island Project long term writing assignment.
  • Begin working on the setting and plot of individual assignments with Mr. McGroary

Objectives:  Antonym Pairs with Three or More Syllables

 

List:  amateur, professional, majority, minority, mediocre, excellence, legible, illegible, departure, arrival,

Mon.-Tues.: Write syllables and definitions for words in alphabetical order

Wed. Thurs: Write ten sentences showing meaning for each word.

Friday:  Know spelling and definition for test
